Project Goals

this project was a ticket booking and exhibitor management platform with high traffic, the main objective from the standpoint of cloud operations was to make sure the infrastructure could manage a high number of concurrent users without any issues, particularly during periods of high event demand.

Priorities included lowering latency and preserving high availability as well as making the best use of available resources to keep the solution economical without sacrificing dependability or performance.

Project Challenges

From the standpoint of cloud infrastructure, one of the main obstacles was that the application was developed using an antiquated framework (ASP.NET Core 3.1), which did not support deployment on contemporary Linux-based Kubernetes environments. This made it extremely difficult to adopt a scalable microservices model and containerize the workloads.

Furthermore, read/write query separation was not supported by the application’s monolithic structure, which made it challenging to fully utilize RDS read replicas for performance tuning. Inadequate caching techniques put additional strain on the infrastructure, requiring us to design the system for scalability and resilience while taking into account increased load at the database and application layers.

Identification of Infrastructure Needs and Cloud Preparedness

Cloud Consulting: collaborated with the client’s development team to collect precise infrastructure requirements and make sure the system design adhered to standard practices for cloud-native development.

Adoption of Microservices and Containerization

Containerization: Supervised the team’s transition to microservices for the application, containerized each service, and deployed them on Kubernetes for increased manageability and scalability.

Linux-Based Web Hosting to Reduce Expenses

Cost optimization: They upgraded their.NET framework so that the application could run on Linux-based Kubernetes nodes, which resulted in a significant reduction in hosting costs when compared to their previous Windows-based EC2 setup.

Monitoring & Alerting Setup

Observability: To track system performance and enable proactive incident detection and resolution, centralized monitoring tools and alerting systems were implemented.

Centralized Log & Error Management

Automation: To ensure real-time alerts and faster issue resolution, set up log aggregation and error monitoring tools and incorporate them with team messaging apps (like Slack and Teams).

Application-Level Monitoring

Performance Tracking: Observability and system reliability were enhanced by configuring comprehensive monitoring for HTTP request flows and important application metrics.
